How to Play NFL Pick 'Em Pools

Ready to make your football season more exciting? Pickster’s NFL Pick 'Em Pools are a fun way to compete with friends, family, or coworkers by predicting the outcome of each week’s games.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get started:

The Basics

Gather your group—invite friends, family members, or colleagues to join your pool. Each week, players will predict the outcome of that week's NFL games.

Currently, Pickster only supports Straight Up Pools. In this format, each player will make their picks based on who they think will win each game, without any regard for the score margin. It's simple: just choose the team you believe will come out on top.

The Objective

The object of Pick'em Pools is to accumulate as many points as possible by correctly making picks for each week played during the NFL pro football regular season.

Making Your Picks

Each week, each player makes their selection through the Pickster App for the upcoming games. You can use any strategy you like—whether it's following expert analysis, your gut feeling, or team loyalty. Once your picks are in, sit back and enjoy the football action!

Picks are open until the start of each game. You are free to modify your picks at any time before kick off of each game. For example, you can make your selection for Thursday Night Football, and leave the rest of the games unselected until Sunday before each game kicks off.

Scoring

For every correct pick, players will earn a point. Each player's points will be tallied weekly, and standings will be updated to show where everyone ranks for both the week and the entire season.

Depending on how your Pool Admin is running the pool, winners can be crowned on a weekly basis as well as a season champ based on most correct picks at the end of each week and at the end of the regular season.

Tiebreakers (Weekly Winners)

In the event of a tie at the end of the week, tiebreakers will be used to determine the winner. If a tie still occurs after tiebreakers have been applied, the prize would be split by the number of players which tied. The tiebreaker is based on the cumulative score of the last game of the week. This game is usually Monday Night.

Tiebreakers (Season Winners)

In the event of a tie at the end of the season, tiebreakers will be used to determine the winner. If a tie still occurs after tiebreakers have been applied, the prize would be split by the number of players which tied. The tiebreaker is based on the cumulative score of the last game of the regular season.

How Does The Tiebreaker Work

Tiebreakers are determined based on the total combined score of the final game of the week. The player with the closest guess to this final score, whether over or under, wins the tiebreaker.

Example: If the last game of the week ends with a score of 24-21, the combined score is 45. If Player A guessed 46 and Player B guessed 43, Player A would win the tiebreaker because they were only 1 point away, compared to Player B who was 2 points off.

It's important to note that the tiebreaker only applies to participants who are in contention to win for the week or the season. If you’re not in the running, the tiebreaker doesn’t come into play.

If a player fails to enter a tie breaker score, it will default to "0".
